Default Took The Teenage Daughter Shooting Today

She's thirteen and has been shooting since she was 6 or 7. She has always just shot the 22's a couple of times and then started wanting to leave. I've never pushed anything else on her. Out of the blue she asked to shoot the 38. Then she just asked to shoot everything. By the end of the morning she was letting the .357 and the 45 rip. She has been shooting for a lot of years but today she really liked it. We are going again next week. It looks like I found a new shooting partner.

I might have to get another job to pay for ammo.!

Gotta take the bro and sister in law a few times to get her warmed up to it. People fear guns because they only know they are dangerous, and they don't know how to really work it. I mean, they know the trigger is the bang switch, but how to unload a gun clear the action and make it safe is a mystery to them. People fear the unknown.

Give them a half hour run down on how to operate a .22, then take them to the range. Helps if you have a nice outdoors range with no one shooting large caliber handguns in the next lane.

Teach them that their kids are statistically in larger danger at a friends house with a pool.

Gotta love daddy daughter day at the range. So much for the middle school dance, hello shooting range.

I am going to take my 7 year old daughter out next time to shoot the .22, other daughter still too young.

Glad to hear you both had some fun!

I just went in her room and I'll be darned....she hung one of her targets on the wall! Yep, I'd say she's hooked. Just as long as I don't screw it up some how.

Ya been there and done that. Converted a few girl friends that way. She's fine that I shoot & hunt, her brother hunts too. But she is a tough cookie to crack. Gona keep working on it though!! I'll just say I'm taking her fishing and see if that works!!
