Law I'd enact...

How about this idea...

1. Get rid of the welfare state-
No wic, ss, medicare, food stamps, public education, publicly funded medical care for indigents... everything.
2. End the war on drugs.

Results:
1. Far fewer cretin leeches will want to come here to suck off the government tit.
2. Drug runners find themselves competing against the likes of Walmart and quickly go out of business thus greatly reducing the violence associated with the drug industry.

Ancillary results:
1. Our homegrown welfare dregs might well leave.
2. Our drug users OD and die since docs will likely no longer see them once government stops paying for their care.
3. Our police and politicians will face much less temptations with bribe money from the drug trade.

Caveats:
1. Probably need to get your medical insurance up to date and wear some id so that if you get in a wreck and need care that the hospital can look you up and see whether you're good for payment. Your choice though. I don't care what you do, or how/if you're cared for.
2. People need to provide for the education of their own kids. Not my problem whether your kids are smart or stupid. Besides, I personally think that the education of children is far too important to leave in the hands of the government since the government turns everything it touches (including kids) into a big pile of ... poop.
3. People would need to take care of themselves and each other. No more sponging off the government when you lose your job or decide to retire.


Here's my distant second idea. Much worse than my first plan but there might be some satisfaction in the implementation.
1. Seize a ribbon of land on the Mexican side of the border - maybe a quarter mile wide from Gulf to Pacific.
2. Remove the inhabitants (this is an optional step if we want to be courteous,)
3. Bring the military back from all our overseas adventures and put them along this DMZ area. This would include everybody in Iraq, Afghanistan, Korea, all UAV's, etc.
4. Kill anyone caught in the DMZ.

This would be kind of like the DMZ between the Korea's. They seem to have their immigration issue under control.
