I got a high five from my boss who said "Damn I'm glad we finally have someone here with a backbone and a good work ethic." The kid had it coming, the only reason he's been getting away with his bullshit is because his other supervisor is afraid of confrontation or something.
The company has money and needs work done... he needs money, and is willing to do the work (nobody is forcing him to work there). He won't get paid for doing nothing, if he wants money he needs to earn it, and do so without being disrespectful to other employees, supervisors, managers, and customers. He isn't holding up his end of that bargain, and I made sure he understood that. If this is considered being a hardass... our society is more fucked than I thought.
