Now they're talking about Thursday morning for the stars to align. Trying to line up an ENT to do the tracheostomy, the orthopaedic surgeon to repair the ankle, and the cardiologist to convert her atrial fibrilation is difficult.

I've got to hand it to the wife. That's a long time to be in a hospital bed with a severely broken ankle.

    Oh, brother!

The wife is running a fever today. The Docs think it's an infection in her central line IV. She's on antibiotics and the surgery is cancelled tomorrow. With the holiday weekend coming up, how long will she have to lay there in the hospital?!

After the Dr. bills start rolling in, I don't think I'll be buying guns, ammo, or much of anything for a while. [abused]

    Default Some Scriptures

Here are some Scriptures that I hope will comfort you. These were read by our Lord Jesus in the Temple. God Bless!

Isaiah 61:1 (NIV) The Spirit of the Sovereign LORD is on me,
because the LORD has anointed me
to preach good news to the poor.
He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted,
to proclaim freedom for the captives
and release from darkness for the prisoners,
2 to proclaim the year of the LORD's favor
and the day of vengeance of our God,
    to comfort all who mourn,
3 and provide for those who grieve in Zion--
to bestow on them a crown of beauty
    instead of ashes,
    the oil of gladness
    instead of mourning,
    and a garment of praise
instead of a spirit of despair.
They will be called oaks of righteousness,
    a planting of the LORD
for the display of his splendor.

We've had a few more adventures since the last upate:

The intestinal bleeding has made the wife anemic. The anti-coagulants were discontinued and a 'Greenfield Filter' was inserted into the inferior vena cava that returns blood to the lungs. The filter prevents blood clots from the legs from returning to the lungs and causing a fatal blockage.

The MRSA infection in her blood infected her right eye and was attacking the retina. We had to have a "procedure" done on her eye which involved a transfer to Porter. The nursing staff in the OR at Porter on Labor Day really was a cluster. A 10 minute procedure took 90 minutes and really traumatized the both of us. Mary was transported back to Sky Ridge that evening and she commented that it was nice to be back in her old room (how screwed up is that?).

The bad news is that the ankle is still broken and she's been in bed for over 4 weeks (lots of physical therapy will be required).

The good news is that the vision is quickly returning to her right eye. The MRSA infection in her blood is now cleared up so it's no longer preventing surgery. She will be transferring to University Hospital on Monday where her ENT is able to do the tracheostomy for the ankle surgery.

You can tell I haven't been around here much lately. An update on the situation. Wife has been in the hospital for 6.5 weeks and she's at University now. Tracheostomy is in. She's having other complications that have prevented the ankle from being repaired. I'll be lucky to get her home by Christmas. Between work sucking to high heaven and the wife in the hospital, I haven't had any time for forums, shooting, etc.

You go take care of the important things, the forum and shooting will be here when you get back.

I hope your wife recovers soon, this sounds like way to much effing BS for one person to have to go through.
