If you want CQB, why not get a SOCOM or Scout Squad M1A? Same platform, same mags you already have. It will still shoot out beyond 600.

If I were a stud and could hump both a M1A NM as well as a SOCOM-II, I would but I'm not I currently have a M1A Scout.

The purpose of my change is to have the short barrel 14.5" with optics for CQB and have a 20" upper with bipod and scope for long range that can be carried in a pack. Some might think this overkill but I am quite fond of the concept and for the shorter upper will be going with a piston.

    Thanks for your input.

If I was going CQB in a 7.62/.308, I think I'd opt for a 12" barrel. Take a good look at the LWRC REPR 12". Just my 2¢ worth.

Oh, believe you me, if I could it would be in my lap. The 14.5" is pinned to 16" with the FS. I live in Washington State were we JUST got using silencers past into law (we could own them but could not use them..). SBR is going to be tackled next. I guess I could register a lower as a pistol and wait until they wake up. Thanks.

Check out the PWS Diablo on youtube.

My apologies, I didn't notice your location. That does kind of bite it, no SBR's. Congrats on the silencer thing.

I will check out that vid. Thanks.

Piston uppers are going through a lot of growing pains right now. I would sit on your hands for a while and go with a DI upper until all the piston bugs get worked out.

I wont even bring up commonality of parts issues piston guns have.
