Default Newbie to 7.62x39 need some ammo advice

So I'll be picking up my first Norinco Sporster SKS in a couple of weeks and will be eager to start shooting it.

What brand(s) of ammo should I look into?
What is a fair price to pay for 7.62x39 ammo?
Are there brands or origin countries to avoid?
Local retailers to check for specials?

    thanks

    Use http://gun-deals.com/ammo.php?caliber=7.62x39

The stuff from the armory is great. Buy quantity since you save.

My personal favorite is Golden Tiger, buy by the case for the best price. If you only want a few boxes to start, try the Uly in the white box from Walmart, pretty good stuff. Both are noncorrosive.

My personal favorite is yugoslavian m67, its brass cassed (that doesn't matter to most but I like it) and it is the most accurate surplus 7.62x39 I have shot. Also its priced decent

Ive just been shooting Wolf and wallmart white box stuff. Frankly I cant tell the difference. Not had a missfire of any kind yet after about 1,000 rounds. Besides Russian junk has no problems with Russian junk.

One reason I got away from the SKS and 7.62x39, it was costly to find ammo that wasn't steel core. Never could just grab it and go to the indoor range and shoot. But that might have changed since I owned mine.

Funny thing is the cheapest ammo on the market now days is lead core ammo (m67)
