    Reminded me of this:

Mr. Howard had to resign for using the word "niggardly" properly.

I think it's the movie "Clerks" that a character rattles off a list of racial terms? I must admit that I didn't know half of those so I'll probably end up in the news someday for using a word properly but having offended the purple speckled hairless condor or something

My favorite movie line ever. I love that whole scene. Particularly as a southerner who knew far more clansmen than should be considered acceptable!

    Since you brought up Reagan......

Reagan is the text book example of dogwhistle politics. His "States Rights Speech" which he used to launch his campaign was just that.

"I believe in states' rights.... I believe we have distorted the balance of our government today by giving powers that were never intended to be given in the Constitution to that federal establishment."

"restore to states and local governments the power that properly belongs to them."

Why is it dog whistle? Because "states' rights" speech was at the Neshoba County Fair, just a few miles from Philadelphia, Mississippi, a town associated with the 1964 murders of civil rights workers. A town only famous for its brutal murders during the civil right struggle.

Now was Reagans speech racist at all? Nope........ but those who believe in "States Rights" to keep blacks segregated heard that speech in a different way than most Americans.

Don't worry Ranger, I'm not pickin on ya. I think your a good guy.

Wow, just W-O-W. Nynco that's quite a stretch, even for you. I mean, frickin' WOW. Can I call you Nynco-m-poop? . Seriously, that's some serious right hating, left loving, hug a communist kind of stretching right there.

Ranger the dog whistle part was not the words in the speech alone. But where the speech was given. To racists, they heard a guy who was one of them. To a normal fiscal conservative, they heard Reagan as being someone who believed in limited gov.
