While we are de-railed, can you name 5 things you use every day that weren't delivered by a truck?
I pay for those services, period. Because the goods that I pay for were delivered by a truck does not give a truck driver the right to threaten my life because I'm on a bike.

    Straighten out your thinking.

    We're talking about taxes.
But how does a truck threaten your life?

In a previous post I stated how I’ve been swerved at by vehicles, they play “how close can I get my mirror to his head” etc. No sense in reposting it all here.
Bottom line, I pay taxes just like everyone else. I also pay for the goods and services that pay a truck driver’s salary. Get over it. I'm going to use the road. Where you need to get worked up is when I don't follow the rules/law.

How do I feel threatened? Simple a one ton plus vehicle buzzing me at who knows how fast. It’s aggressive, period. Try that on a cop car with a cement truck, semi etc and continue driving. See how long it takes for them to use deadly force to make you stop.
Again, I’ve considered carrying my alloy J frame after reading all this I and giving it more serious thought.

Because its dangerous to be balancing on two 1" wide contact patches on the ground going 20-30 mph next to a hundreds-of-feet long drop? Or because its annoying to have to go around them.

If the former... why outlaw stupid? They choose to ride next to a cliff, I have no sympathy when they fall down the cliff. Outlaw stupid, and you just get more of it... they breed too, ya know. Let stupid be stupid, and eventually the problem just goes away.
If the latter... just make it painfully clear that if they want to be considered a motor vehicle and share the road with things that have engines, they have to abide by the SAME rules that cars and real bikes do. They'll think twice about it.
I totally agree with the stupidity, Its freakin scary for two vehicles to meet each other on a blind curve on Red Mountain pass with a bicycle in between.

Roads are built for the purpose of transportation, and are built with taxes paid on vehicle registrations and fuel. Cyclists don't pay any of these fees. They are not required to have a license, and they do not follow traffic laws. They use the road for recreation at everyone's risk. I can't set up a hockey goal or a basketball hoop in the middle of the highway and expect to be safe and protected by law. Other than cycling, recreation on the highway is not permitted.

I understand cycling for transportation. Please try to operate whatever vehicle you have chosen in a way that will not get you killed. Cars>bikes.
Agreed, OH SANE ONE all cyclists and drivers should have that attitude.

    That thing is sick...

PS - I think I would pee a little if I saw that thing roaring down behind me on some dark two-lane road...
