    Default Political Rant Thread

I figure we all derail the other threads enough that maybe a dedicated thread might be a better place for it. Anything is game here, all viewpoints welcome. Name calling is a given and getting pissed off is bound to happen at some point .

I'll start by saying this article reflects my sentiments quite nicely regarding our new debt deal:

"...quemadmodum gladius neminem occidit, occidentis telum est." [...a sword never kills anybody; it's a tool in the killer's hand.] -- (Lucius Annaeus) Seneca "the Younger" (ca. 4 BC-65 AD)

“I regret that I have but one life to lose for my country.” ~ Nathan Hale (final words before being hanged by the British, September 22, 1776.)

I found a great one about FDR. It deals with the right wing attacks on his legacy.

I think Rush Limbaugh is right and wished he would run the country!

Ranger that story is predictable. I have read some books on psychology profiles of different political stances. That fits right in there. In fact I could send you a link for a whole book about it online. I first started reading about the subject after reading some columns by John Dean who is a conservative himself.

Oh Gawd- here we go- the MYTH of the New Deal. Suggested reading- "Three Myths of the Great Depression" a paper from the Foundation for Economic Education. It has nothing to do with right wing attacks. It has to do with transferral of wealth from the haves to those who want it for free. That was the New Deal. Transferral of jobs FROM the private sector and wealth FROM the private sector to the public sector- i.e. gov't.

By the way nynco- John Dean is no conservative. He is a registered independent wacko who lobbied for the impeachment of George Bush and has been strongly critical of conservativism and Republicans in general. Better read more.

Lol the new deal us such a joke. I am conservative but try to see both viewpoints and I believe both political parties are garbage but really if we have to debate the uselessness of the new deal we are wasting each others time. It's the worst economic plan and social plan in the history of this country. Some of the ideas short term weren't bad but over the long term are completely detrimental

How many of you are actually old enough to accurately comment on the New Deal?

"The New Deal was a series of economic programs implemented in the United States between 1933 and 1936."

Lets get someone who was actually alive to comment on it.

If not I would like to give my editorial on Constantine's conversion of Rome to Christianity.
