Default Need help choosing. M1A or M1 Garand?

My experience has been with Ar15s and bolt actions. I've decided I need an M1A or a Garand in .308, probably new from Springfield Armory. I'm leaning toward the M1A though and I hear the term "loaded M1A". Exactly what comes with one that is loaded? Other than magazine fed are there any advantages to the M1A over the Garand? Are Fulton Armory rifles as good/better/worse than Springfield Armory? Do Garands come with clips?
I'm a total novice in this area. Advice/comments appreciated.

if you want .308, go with the M1A

    Springfield Armory

if you want an M1, get a CMP M1 (30.06)

    CMP - Civilian Marksmanship Program

clips for the M1 are around $1 each but you can find them in bulk at about $0.50 each.

I have a Springfield Armory "Socom 16" and I LOVE IT. My HK-91 is collecting dust. One thing to watch out for is aftermarket mags. Spend a little more and get original Winchester mags.

both are great rifles (although the Fulton is probably better than Springfield and priced appropriately).
however, the Garand is like battlerifle 1.0 and the M14/M1A is like version 2.0

The garand is more fun, bang bang...bang ping is a hoot. But it's not cool in a bad situation, you also can't top off and it's of course only 8.

The M14 has the same sights with a better gas system and of course detachable mags holding 20.

Depends on what you want it for.

I have both, I like both, and they are the best MBR's out there, but if I could only have one, I'd say M14/M1A

Hey Guys, I picked up a NIB Springfield Armory M1 Garand in .308 at Jensen's. Nice walnut and a surprisingly nice trigger for $1.123.99. Also picked up a 1260 round case of 147 gr. South African battle packs.

    Thanks for your input.
