Default Ideas for .22LR Match Scoring

I am currently working on putting together a Rim Fire only match that tests your "long-range" accuracy. The idea is to place steel targets starting at 35 yards and out to 150 yards (we thought about going out to 200 yards but this is one heck of a shot with a .22LR).

Help me figure out a scoring system for each target... Would it be best if:
    1) Each target has a value of 10 point regardless of the distance they are set at; or
    2) The closest target is valued at 10 points and the farther targets have a higher value as they get progressively more difficult to shoot (i.e. 35yd=10pts; 50yd=20pts; 65yd=30pts; etc).

What do you think would work best?

    Tough call.

You want to encourage people to take the far shots but not make them worth so much you lose if you miss a distant target.

To make it simple, make the yardage equal to the point value.

    35 yards = 35 points.

    100 yards = 100 points.

Then only to complicate it, make the first round hit worth full value and the second shot worth half value.

That's a neat idea; I hadn't thought about that. Thanks!

If we can generate enough interest, we plan to make this a monthly event. As you can see, we still haven't ironed out all the details of the match but, if everything works well, we hope to hold our first match on Sept 17 at our range in Brighton.

So far we think that the cost will be just $10 per rifle and in exchange the winners will get bragging right and good trigger practice (but no cash prizes).

I expect to have all the details figured out in the next few days and, as soon as I do, I will advertise it on this forum.
