Default Interesting Situation with an Gun Manufacture

So I come home from work yesterday and I notice a box at my front door sitting on the porch from a gun manufacture. I take the box inside an open it and there is a new AK sitting in it. I did not order this gun and I am not an FFL or an SOT. I called the gun manufacture this morning and was transferred to several different people and had to call back several times and was finally told that FedEx would be by tomorrow to pick it up. This would be fine and good, but the girl I spoke with at the gun manufacture kind of had an attitude and did not even offer a thank you much less maybe a free mag or something for the mess I have gone through today. So I am thinking about calling the Boulder Police and having them come pick up the gun and let the gun manufacture try to get it back from them. I am sure the Boulder Police would like to know why they are shipping AK47's to people’s homes. Am I just being a dick? Would this be a bad move, or do you guys think I am justified to be a little ticked?

The reason the gun was shipped to my house is because I placed an order with the gun manufacture for some parts about a month ago and apparently they have another customer with my name in Pennsylvania who is an FFL.

Mistakes happen, bad attitudes shouldn't. I'd let 'em pick it up from the Po Po's. You'd think that would be something that they would have to get a signature for.

    yea i agree
it would be 1 of 2 places right now
    1. police station
    2. ATF office

and let the company deal with it the manufacturer fubar'd that
guns (long and handgun) have to be sent signature reciept even to an FFL. If the company gave me an attitude the gun would be at the atf office right now.

by law, if you want to go through the hassle of getting it transfered to you, You can legally keep the gun. It is FTC federal law if a company sends you something you didn't order, you dont have to pay for it and you are not required to return it. This is federal law and have been in this situation. I have a pdf from the ftc is you want a copy of it. this is directly copied from it

    Unordered Merchandise
If you receive merchandise you didn’t order,
federal law says you can consider it a gift. You
can’t be forced to pay for the item or return it.
If you decide to keep the merchandise, you
may want to send the seller a letter stating your
intention, even though you’re not legally obligated
to do so. Your letter may discourage the seller from
sending you repeated bills, or it may clear up an
error. It’s a good idea to send the letter by certified
mail and keep the return receipt and a copy of the
letter. These records will help you establish later, if
necessary, that you didn’t order the merchandise.

Wow, I was unaware of this.

The shipping label on the package does say "Adult Signature Required" but FedEx left it on my front porch anyway. Truthfully I would not feel right keeping the gun since like Marlin said "mistakes do happed" but I would at least like a thank you and maybe a free mag or something.

Oh hell any of the options that cause the company some pain for:

    1. Being sloppy with a weapon
    2. Copping attitude
    3. Not even saying thanks

Call the ATF, find out what the requirements would be to have the weapon transfered to you. Maybe I'm just a bit more devious than some, but there is a bit of karmic justice here.

At the very least, get it to the ATF and find out for us what they plan on doing, should be entertaining at least!
