A buddy and I were jumped down there about a year and a half ago. I haven't been to LoDo since. I've got too much to live for than to risk being down there and gettin' into it again.
I've been jumped down in LoDo, it wasn't race related though; just drugs.
My cousins got jumped by those black guys a few years ago though.

Sorrrrry- but what the hell is anybody doing in downtown/Lodo Denver at 1:30 in the morning? YOU ARE LOOKING FOR TROUBLE. Remember the adendum to the 3 S's- "Nothing good happens after midnight". I have no empathy for anyone walking the streets of Denver after 1am. It's just dumb.
Ahem, guess where my office is? 17th and Curtis. And I work in telecom, which requires a lot of maintenance to be done after midnight, so I'm downtown in the wee hours much too often for my liking. I only hang in one 1/2 block area, from my building to the parking garage, but a fat, gimpy old cracker like me makes a fine target, IMO. Hence the reason for my CCW permit.
I also work downtown (17th and California, above the Marriot) and sometimes I'm obligated to work late nights to get projects out the door to the client on time. I very regularly take public transit to work, ie. bus. but sometimes I drive and park just north of California and Broadway. On those days, plus other days, I'm packing. My company has a firm no weapons policy, but in IMHO, if no one knows then "no one" knows.
I've seen what some of you are referring to when said, "anything passed midnight is just asking for trouble" which is very true. BUT should we change our life styles just because a bunch of fucktards are running the streets?? I'm not saying being in LODO that late is a good thing but if I'm having a good time with my associates on a Friday night, do I need to cut it short because it's 11:45 and I parked 3 blocks away?? When does it end? Does it ever? or are we just going to consider that IF you want to hang out in downtown Denver, you need to wrap it up before midnight OR be in a group of 15?? When is enough is enough??
I'm taking some of my friends, military friends, out to lodo soon. Once we're there I'm sure we're going to be out late, it's a chance we're taking yes. But I refuse to let fucktards win, we'll see what happens. Because we all know what happens when 2 groups of fucktards goes when alcohol is involved.![]()
hum being as i live about 8 blocks from the incident i guess i should not go out side after midnight. lodo / 5 points / curits park ect. are not bad areas at all . being afraid or as we would say in the hood acting all shock , is a sure fire way to get jumped or taken advantage of . honestly being aware of your surroundings is the best defense . a little bit of street knowledge goes a long way round here . sure bad things happen to good people but most things can be avoided if you know what to look for .
alx,
If you think 5 points ain't that bad, you've obviously spent very little time on foot in them parts. I 'went' (ditched a lot) to Manual high and spent most of my time running around that place and I've seen my fair share of shit around there. Hell one of my friends (16yo) was shot and killed for a damn broncos jacket there.
