Probably wasn't even in the news...don't want citizens knowing what is happening down there and that assaults are on the rise and out of control.

I work by Union Station. Most days I walk a couple blocks for cheaper parking. Nice to see uprooted plants and pigeons eating barf in the morning. If I'm working nights, I pay extra to park in the building.

LoDo is dangerous as hell, and the serious bodily injury scenarios that you'd be justified using firearms for require extra risk taking on your part to avoid the wrath of an overzealous DA.

It's amazingly wrong that I'm as scared of politics/career oriented prosecutors as I am of the roving bands of "unarmed" drugged-up thugs.

PS: Anyone remember this? The only thing scarier than DPD's handling is how fast it's faded from the memory of the general public: http://www.thedenverchannel.com/news...21/detail.html

there were 60 something attacks (as I recall) last year downtown, ( on young white men.) hickenlooper played down the facts so that LODO wouldn't go belly up.

check out the crime map in LODO just in the last two months

Why do you assume that it had anything to do with the DPD. I'm sure the way that it was handled was a political move dictated by the Mayors office.

I think you've been watching too much of the liberal medias reporting about Denver..... I've never heard of a Denver cop arrest anyone for having a so called assault weapon even though the ban is on the books. I've never heard of them going and harassing legally armed citizens just for fun. So how is it you form the idea that the DPD is a bunch of A holes? Sure the liberal government in Denver is anti gun but that doesn't mean the cops are. The ones who do yell at you for legally carrying are idiots and I guarantee that they are the minority and are likely not well liked by their peers.

Don't bash all cops for the acts of a few. Doing that makes you no better then the anti gun crowd who says that one nut doing something dumb with a gun should mean none of us should own them......

I was under the impression that "just following orders" was considered to be a morally and legally weak defense.

I go out down there once every two months or so. The key is to know your surroundings and avoid dangerous situations. To me it would depend on how large the gash in the girls foot was. If it is going to heal on it's own then just go the opposite direction. There is no point in trying to talk trash to a group of drunken losers. If the gash is large and your girl needs medical assistance then call the police and have them pick up the one responsible. He is probably never going to end up paying for the medical bills but chances are the guy has priors and an assault charge might be enough to put him away for a year or so.

Whenever you are in a situation like this you have to remember that you probably have more to lose then they do. Confronting the group on your own will do you no good.

The motherfucker who purposely hurts my wife will surely have some medical bills of his own and that'd be best case scenario for him. I never leave home "on my own". Then again, I never dwell loser-ville late at night either.

The judge might make you move down to loser-ville forever if you decide to shoot someone for accidently tossing a bottle at your wife. Sometimes it is better to think things out a few steps in advance.

Also, I don't think that it is a very wise decision to go out boozing while carrying. It can be known to cloud your judgement...
