And it's the responsibility of the parents to explain why the neighbor has a firearm and that as long as he is acting in an appropriate manner then it's perfectly ok. No reason to be alarmed.

It's this type of reaction that's kept me from OCing on my property. I don't want to deal with the wuss that lives next door and his wife freaking out because their kids might see their neighbor walking around with a holstered handgun. God forbid that my kid is in the house with me when I strap it on.

I'd gladly raise my kids in a neighborhood where the folks showed them good examples of safe, day-to-day firearms carry/practice.
As for people moving in... the only people it will deter are people that aren't gun friendly, and it will attract pro-2A folks. Not something I'd be complaining about.

If they start carrying rifles and darting around from tree to tree, yelling at the "invisible voices", then you might have cause for concern.

I actually had a neighbor walking his dog approach me on a similar issue- I was walking out to my car with my AR in it's case, and since I don't have a case, my AK in hand. He walked up with his dog and said "Going shooting?" I responded "Yes I am." He saw that I had US Army plates, a 10th Mtn Sticker in the back window, and an "Afghanistan Campaign Veteran" in the window and said "Guys like you sure make this neighborhood feel 10x safer for me and my family. Thanks for your service." And then left. Most sheep won't question the sheepdog among them.

I told her maybe they are cops ( we can all spot a cop and no cop would be flashing a gun while he was moving) or better yet they could be dog the bounty hunters. So my question is what is the concealed weapons law ? You can carry a gun 24/7 wherever you want?
    What would I do?

Go over and introduce myself, and welcome them to the neighborhood. Maybe see if we have common interests other than firearms. I often open carry around home, and none of my neighbors (other than the gangbanger wannabes that used to live down the street) seemed to even notice, much less object.

As far as concealed carry law goes, and state firearms law in general, maybe you should start here: CRS Title 18, article 12

I wish more people would open carry. We all should get used to seeing 'good' people with guns. I open carry when around the house. But I half expect a patrol car to roll up my driveway someday while mowing the lawn.

I do too. Like I said in previous posts. I am huge on concealed because I am a paranoid private person (which is alliteration-not intended) that doesn't like to share what he has or let people know. But if people are comfortable with it or prefer it then I say do it
