    Default Dog Toys

I have two lab mixes that are hard chewers, by that I mean they rip apart toys very quickly. Looking for tips for good toys that they can't rip apart in 15 minutes.

I've got two bulldogs, and believe me we've gone through everything. The few toys we've landed on that seem to have some durability are the hardened plastic frisbees at petco, the mini tires they have do pretty well, and then we always get them the giant knotted ropes, those last for a while.

I like Kong dog toys. We've had two of the snowman looking toys and one in the shape of a dog bone, so to speak, for a couple years and our dogs (one Australian and one German Shepherd) haven't chewed them up yet. And you can put treats in them and they will work all day long trying to get them out.

Girlscouts? Hmmm, I don't know... I think it's kinda dangerous to teach young girls self esteem and leadership skills.

Kong toys usually have varying degrees of durability. The black ones are designed for strong chewers. Most of them you can put a treat in there to keep them occupied too. My pit's favorite toys are "Tire Biters" in the largest possible size. I get them at PetsMart. It's a rubber tire with a rope through it. The rope usually lasts 5-10 minutes unless I take it away from him, but the tire usually lasts a couple months. I throw it to him, play tug-o-war, he fetches it well, shakes it as hard as he wants. He's torn through a few of them, but it takes a while. Usually he tears the middle (traction area) of the tire and he'll end up with 2 frisbee shaped tire pieces. Give em a try and see what your dogs think of them.

Thanks, I haven't seen the black Kong toys at all. The other kongs that I have gotten for my pups last a very short time.

My dog loves water bottles. Just take off the cap, neck ring, and paper label. Let 'em chew away! Just keep an eye on it so they don't swallow any plastic etc. You could wrap the bottle in an old rag/towel if you're really worried. They just like the crunching sound.

    +1
My dog also loves water bottles. They last about 30 seconds with him unless I'm actively playing with him and making him jump for it, etc. But after a while they cut his tongue up a little.

My dog Bear loves toys that squeak, problem is, the material of the tough ones he hates... need a good tough squeaky one, we have the same problem, he destroys every stuffed animal within an hour or two.

One of my customers has pits, and saves his old front motorcycle tires for them to play with...
