The magazine restriction applies to rifles and shotguns, they specifically exempt pistols and .22s.

its not my hood im worried about , it the really bad places like , cherry creek , glendale ,thorton ect .

If it's a rifle under the law (over 16 inch barrel length and/or over 26 inches overall, or a registered SBR/SBS) then the over 20 round mag ban would apply, regardless of caliber, i.e. a carbine that takes Glock mags and a 33 round G17 mag = illegal.
