If you are serious about her then the kid should not be a problem and should be included whether he/she comes along or you bring him/her a toy when you pick the lady up.
As for dates make it something fun more in a public scene so it isn't too awkward and don't set the bar too high or she might get pissed when the 3rd date you want steak and bj night.

The best first date is take her to maatam fez for dinner it is a 5 course meal with lots of distractions and cool atmosphere to keep from that horrible ackward silence, but lots of time to talk, then go rent a movie together and go back to your/her place to watch it with a couple of drinks.
This has worked almost a dozen times to get me......... married

I wish that was my allergy to tekillya.. I usually just end up with food poisoning.
I have a similar allergy- but it usually ends up with my friends making fun of me: "Dude, you were arguing with a houseplant, falling over a lot, throwing things, and then you puked in the laundry machine!"
Fitz, good luck, she sounds great- but me personally, I shy away from the single moms- I don't want to ever become "the other dad," and I just don't want to deal with the bio-daddy drama, but if that's for you, and you're cool with it, happy hunting and hope it works out for you. As far as dates go, I suck at planning them, but thus far have had some good luck with improvised date plans... if it is possible, one of the best dates I've ever been able to arrange (done this about 4 times now and every one of them ended with her being happy to see me again) is sports. Take her to a Rockies game (don't do rockpile though), or if it were time of year, a hockey game, the Avs are always fun to watch and you show her you care by spending a shitload of money on food and beer that is waaay overpriced... joking about $$=love.
That's what I've had the most success with, and it involves very little effort, just walk in, take your seat and enjoy yourselves.
