Default The right range for me?

Im sitting right now at the corner of Adams, Jefferson and Denver County. So the Arvada/Lakeside/Berkley/Wheat Ridge area.

Im looking to join a range, thats not gonna be filled with a bunch of gangbanger idiots waving guns around to impress their girlfriends, but also is not 10 hours away and does not cost 300 dollars a year to be a part of.

Does anyone know of the right range for me?

    Thanks guys!

Silver Bullet is right around the corner from you. I haven't been to Blue Core but it wouldn't be very far either.

Closest outdoor range without membership would probably be Summit County landfill in Silverthorne. There are many National Forest areas and some are on the map in the Places to Shoot thread. Once you find a place that is free and not already trashed you may want to be selective about who you share that with.

I hear Silver Bullet has horrible circulation and Blue Core is 17/hr plus they dont allow steel case! PFFT! Steel case all the way.

Ill check out the other places on the map. Thanks!

I grew up in Golden/Lakewood/Arvada/Wheat Ridge area, and have no idea where Berkley is. Is it one of those towns that shows up on Google but doesn't really exist, like Applewood or Sheridan?

Berkley is between Sheridan and Federal around 52nd Ave. It's a Denver neighborhood, not a city.

Other than Silver Bullet on the NW side of town there's Arvada Rifle and Pistol Club, but they are very restrictive on ammo and caliber. The only other ranges that are public are "The Shootist" off Sante Fe and Dartmouth, and Family Shooting Center at Cherry Creek State Park, both of which are not a short drive for you.

Silver Bullet is probably the best bet for you. It can be hinkey at times with respect to gangbanger types, but generally that's the exception. The biggest issue is crowds: weekends suck, you'll probably wait at least 45 w/o a membership reservation (if you have a current membership, you can call in and reserve a lane for a specific time). The best times are weekdays early: noon, or late past 5:00PM. They are open until 7:00PM.

As far as bang for your buck, it's the best deal in town. An annual membership pays for the 13 sessions per year, and they don't expire. You get a punch card with 12 ticks which give you 12 sessions plus a free one when you purchase your membership. So if you have used 6 sessions during your year's membership, you keep your card and can use the punches/ticks until you have used all of them up.

I think I will check out Cherry Creek! Only about 30 minutes away and I prefer the outdoors! Thanks!

    Forgot to add:
I've only been to Cherry Creek once about 5 years ago, they were limited to a 100yd rifle range and you could only shoot form off the bench (sitting). Their handgun range seemed ok, but I only shot rifle that day.

Things may have changed since I've been there.

    Default Outdoor Range

Greetings I will jump in here and put in a plug for the club I belong to and am a Board Member of-- Buffalo Creek Gun Club www.bcgc.com

We have a short range 0-100 yards for pistols and sighting in, then we have another range 200 to 600 yards.

We are a High-Power club, shooting Service Rifles, but that does not mean you have to shoot that to join or just shoot with us.

We have openings to join or you can shoot as a recreational shooter.
Joining cost $240 for the first year, along with 2 workbond days and then every year after that is $50 and 2 workbond days. If you just wanted to come up and shoot it is $15 for one person or $20 for a family. We are open 7 days a week, 365 days a year.

Located 11 miles south of Bailey. About an hour from the west end of Lakewood to the Range.

    PM me with questions
