Default Birth of my Rem 700 SA, First Year Production (1962)

So I called Remington today to get the birth of my Rem 700 SA in .243 (with a 20" barrel) and gave the lady my Serial Number and came back with a first year production (Oct. 1962). Pretty sweet, I think? Even the lady was pretty excited, and the twist is odd (1 in 9 1/8th) It's been awhile since it's been shot, I clean it and it looks good for it's age I suppose. Should I have any concerns shooting it? Is there such a thing as barrel life?

This was my first hunting rifle growing up and probably was handed down from my grandfather to my dad to me. Anyway, I'm in the process of "dressing it up" with a new stock, Harris BiPod and scope. Should be fun!
