freakin' awesome.
I also like that the officers themselves owe damages.
oh, and here's something for you
only if you want
I have two pitbulls that are completely harmless. I would not be at all surprised, though, if one or both of them were shot if law enforcement had a reason to enter my dwelling on their own terms. That would be heartbreaking. On the other hand, I can sympathize with officers who have to prioritize their safety in volatile situations. It's the human threat that appears while they're dealing with the dog that officers need to worry about.
That being said, I don't have kids so anyone who shoots my dog(s) better hope I can't shoot my way to the gun-room. An AR with a SlideFire stock & a semi-auto shotgun could give a tactical team real problems when I'm in my concrete storage bunker with a gas mask on.
Glad to see people being held responsible for their actions.
On another note (first thing that came to mind when I saw the thread title)...
Anybody know the laws about putting a dog down?
What do you mean? Like taking them to the vet, or if you're allowed to plug 'em then bury 'em?
I know that when you take them to the vet to get put down, they used to give them back to you so you could bury them. They don't anymore though, because they don't want the "put down" drugs leaching into the soil.
"There are no finger prints under water."
I mean dig a hole out in the pasture, say your goodbyes, and give em a humane ending to their suffering. I've heard this is considered "animal abuse" by the greenies but I haven't really looked into it since my pup still has a good 5-8 years ahead of him, God willing, and I don't want to think about having to do it until I really do have to.
It absolutely sucks, one of the toughest things a man will face in his lifetime, but its part of being a man. You don't farm out the hard stuff just because you don't want to do it. Taking your best friend and family member (only family some of us can stand) to someone else that will strap em down to a table and stick em with a needle may be easier for you, but it ain't right.

You don't drop them off like an unwanted junk car and wash your hands of it. And they don't strap them down like some condemned criminal. You're there. You hold them and you comfort them as they slowly drift away, peacefully. I've had to do it twice and each time it was the hardest thing I've ever had to do. Putting them to sleep is a lot more humane than putting a bullet in them. I could never fathom letting that last memory, that last moment together, be something so violent.
Guess its just another one of those things that's been pussified in our "modern" society.
I'll say it again, you don't farm out the hard stuff just cause you "can't" do it yourself. Sometimes unpleasant things just need to be done. I don't care how they do it at the vet, its YOUR dog and the deed should be done by YOUR hand.
