I have two pitbulls that are completely harmless. I would not be at all surprised, though, if one or both of them were shot if law enforcement had a reason to enter my dwelling on their own terms. That would be heartbreaking. On the other hand, I can sympathize with officers who have to prioritize their safety in volatile situations. It's the human threat that appears while they're dealing with the dog that officers need to worry about.

That being said, I don't have kids so anyone who shoots my dog(s) better hope I can't shoot my way to the gun-room. An AR with a SlideFire stock & a semi-auto shotgun could give a tactical team real problems when I'm in my concrete storage bunker with a gas mask on.
