    Default Armalite Mod 1???

Does anyone have experience with Armalite rifles? It's up between the Mod 1 a Bushmaster or a Colt. Let me know what you think. Thanks

Well, Bushmasters are crap, and Colts are out of spec.

Correction-NEW Bushmasters are crap. I have had quite few earlier Bushy's and they were great rifles.
Armalites are good rifles, they are the originator of the design. The only problems I have seen with Armalites is the occasional FTF due to tight tolerances.

I keep hearing negative things about Bushmasters but no one ever really explains why they just say they are junk. So Bert you mentioned that the newer ones are no good, what/when changed things because I thought at one time they were pretty good rifles?

In 07 or 08 Bushmaster was acquired by Cerebus Holdings. Since then QC has slipped. When I worked at the shop late model Bushys were one of the most frequently brought in with issues.
Stupid stuff like loose pistol grips, 2 gas rings instead of 3, missing buffer detents, missing safety detents, weak staking of the gas key causing it to loosen, loose buffer tubes and such.
    Just poor quality control.
Bushmaster is actually shutting down operations and moving to one of the Carolinas IIRC.
Too bad, they were great rifles.

My Colts have been flawless as well.

An actual Armalite Model 01 would have been made between 1959 and 1961, and is both C&R designated, and usually NFA registered. The original AR-15 was a select fire design, through both models 01 and 02 before adoption by the USAF, sale to Colt Patent Firearms Mfg, and eventual type classification and adoption as the M16.

So what is it that you've got, that you're considering buying?
