you put your new shiny shopping carts into a "basket" which is than added to a pallet of like minded purchased items... It makes sense if you do not think about it.

They call it "cart abandonment" in that industry, and it's something they try to minimize. Amazon does a good job, offering several methods to very quickly get your product purchased without jumping through many hoops.
