it's sad that we won't get a feeling like V-E or V-J day from the "war on terror".

Outstanding photos, and thank you very much for posting. It is good to be reminded about great historical events in U.S. history from time to time. It is good to be aware of recent events as it is events that changed the world long ago. We can't rely on public education - which has been censored so as not to "offend" anyone - to teach our children about these things. Keep up the great work and show this to your children!

Back in the days of the old black and white news reels in the movies, I recall as a kid, seeing a huge HUGE pile of Jap swords that were surrendered to our guys on the deck of that ship. Even as kids, we were involved in that war and that war could never possibly be out of our minds. We even had iron and steel scrap drives at our little school back in SE Iowa. I also remember picking milk weed pods, placing them in gunny sacks and taking them to school so that they could be shipped off to some government contractor to be used in the production of parachutes for our troops. Don't know how they were used in the chute manufacture but we felt good picking them knowing they were going to help in some way of killing the enemies of the USA. We ALL pitched in back in those days.

A lot of lives were saved by dropping those bombs.
