Small simple survival kit

Loose the lighter and go with matches and candles. Wet lighters dont work either so keep your matches in those little waterproof containers.

Lint from the clothes dryer is the best kindeling out there. That coupled with the candle will get you a fire going reguardless of what you have to start on fire. Once again stick your lint and a water tight container or film canister.


Other wise looks pretty nice.

I have mine in a medics bag that I found at the army surplus. If I get a chance I will post some pictures of it.

I have to agree about the lighter, but rather than ditch it, just add the matches. All said and told the kit is a solid start and looks pretty good for addition to a regular bag. I personally would add more motrin and even some neosporin and alcohol jell. Infection is a bitch...

We haven't had a decent BOB thread in a long while... wonder if the old one survived the site hiccups. I'm always evolving my BOB/OSB (OhShietBag) .. but lately it's been leaning towards adding decent medical supplies. Time to dig the old list out and see where this one fits in.

I think the author's intent with this survial kit was not that of a bug-out-bag. It's a simple kit you can carry while hiking in $wilderness that will help you survive a day or two (or longer, if you read through all his stuff on that site) while you wait to be found and/or hike out yourself.

That's not to say that bigger bug out bags are unnescessary, of course.

Oh I see that part, but it's a good addition to what I carry in the BOB that goes with the car. That bag is mostly to cover me long enough to trek home from where ever I maybe just in case. It's a small pack anyway, the kit this guy describes would fit rather well in one of the outside pockets.
