This is the same problem i had with a bolt rifle a couple years ago and it even had a nato spec chamber on it, that coated ammo is bad ju ju. At the time it happened to me, and after breaking a GI cleaning rod, I went to lowes and bought a brass dowel rod. they sell alum and brass rods you could probably use either or, take a pair of calipers with you so you get one that will fit. Cut it so its only a couple inches longer than your barrel. I poured a bit of marvins mystry oil down the barrel and let it sit for a couple of hours. That reason alone is why i dont buy steel ammo for any of my 5.56/.223 guns. I will run it through my AK's with no issue but none of my AR's any more. Its the only issue i have ever had with it but that was enough.
