Default Nearly 40 percent of Europeans suffer mental illness

LONDON (Reuters) - Europeans are plagued by mental and neurological illnesses, with almost 165 million people or 38 percent of the population suffering each year from a brain disorder such as depression, anxiety, insomnia or dementia, according to a large new study.

European-style, nanny-state, liberal-socialism is the ideal Our Dear Leader wants for America. Yet, coupled with the previous German study I linked to in June, this study adds even more evidence indicating that liberal socialism, as practiced throughout Europe, is literally driving more and more people crazy.

Does this mean that the term "Liberal whack job" is now OFFICIALLY redundant?
Light a fire for a man, and he'll be warm for a day, light a man on fire, and he'll be warm for the rest of his life...

Discussion is an exchange of intelligence. Argument is an exchange of
ignorance. Ever found a liberal that you can have a discussion with?

Are there really that many Europeans suffering from mental illness? Or have the definitions of "mental illness" been lowered to include common, normal (but maybe not 100% desirable) mental states?

    To paraphrase Ayn Rand:
There's no way to rule sane men. The only power any government has is the power to crack down on the insane. Well, when there aren't enough crazies, one makes them. One declares so many things to be a mental illness that it becomes impossible for men to live without being determined insane ... create a nation of insane people and you can eliminate their rights for their own good.
Make your nation (or continent) into a prison or an insane asylum ... doesn't matter you still get absolute control (and if you declare your people to be insane you get to feel good about your tyranny).
Modern liberalism is based on the idea that reality is obligated to conform to one's beliefs because; "I have the right to believe whatever I want".

"Everything the State says is a lie, and everything it has it has stolen.
    -Friedrich Nietzsche

"Every time something really bad happens, people cry out for safety, and the government answers by taking rights away from good people."
    -Penn Jillette

As with many things the left keeps lowering the bar until everyone can pass.

I always thought depression and anxiety were normal, I didn't know our lives were supposed be a bed of roses without thorns.

Girlscouts? Hmmm, I don't know... I think it's kinda dangerous to teach young girls self esteem and leadership skills.

I would say that the socialist society is not all its cracked up to be.

My wife and I both have 2nd cousins in Europe. One of mine is a German from Russia that moved to Germany after the Soviet Union collapsed. He is less European acting and more like an American. He goes hunting and owns guns and wants me to visit so we can go to a German shooting range. He says it is not to difficult to get a handgun license either.

On the other hand, my wife's cousins are Swedes. Oh, boy! One of her cousins was in the Swedish army and was a member of the King's Life Guard, and he does not believe in guns. Huh??? He however does vote for the Conservative Party but that would be like voting for Romney.

One is a good looking blonde but she is a big lefty. Another is a farmer and she complains about the government policies that hurt small business but she still votes left. And another is a small restaurant owner and she is the same.

    They just don't get it.

If you want to go a little deeper into this idea you should study some Michel Foucault. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Michel_Foucault
