I realize there are well regarded economists that think otherwise but I can't see how spending more money helps reduce a problem brought about by spending too much money in the first place...

I heard the analogy that Government spending is like a plane speeding towards the ground at high speed. And Obama spending cuts is like offering nothing more than reducing the speed a little. And then bragging about what a good job he did.

I would say it's more like pulling up on the throttle a little bit, waiting for the applause, then putting it back down
