    Default Best place to buy...

So I have decided that after waiting so long and thinking of them as the perhaps best invention of the 20th Century (thankfully Beer was invented before then), I am now in the market for the venerable, respectable, and always faithful M1 Garand .30cal Service Rifle. I'm curious though as to where the best place in CO to go to buy one is (ordering just takes soo freaking long, but will if I have to) and what should I expect to pay? I want to go pop off some rounds and then hear that famous "Ping!" I don't know why I've waited so long to get one, so please be gentle.

Anything Big 5 has is likely to be pert near worn out, probably import marked. No Garand owner worth his salt wants an import-marked Garand. But.... an import Garand is better than no Garand at all.

Tanner gun show coming up in two weeks...

Go to a CMP Garand match, participate, and become eligible to purchase one from them. There is one at Weld County Fish and Wildlife this Sunday. Ammo is issued, and you can borrow a rifle if they have one available. The last match, they loaned out all they had. Cost is $20, you'll spend more than that for just surplus ammo. 50 rounds plus 5 sighters.

    On another note:
As far as "Import Marked" Garands, I guess I'm not worth my salt. It was my first rifle given to me by my dad, and is cherished as such. I don't give a rats about being correct, or having all the right parts, or how it's marked. It shoots, and shoots quite well. I participate in High power with it, and do fairly well.

As I said, an import Garand is better than no Garand at all. The import mark simply reduces its collector value. I would rather have 1,000 import Garands- than no Garand at all!!

Also, my 1st Garand was a Blue Sky import. Just remember they are like potato chips. You're never satisfied with just one.

Where is Jensens? And Where is Big 5? Are they in Denver? I asked around at BluCore and they said they could order one, but no one knew where to go physically and buy one. I really don't mind if it's imported, as long as it's the same caliber and function as the original.
