Another 80's iconic coming of age movie that gets butchered by Hollywood who has no original ideas. Of all the fantastic books out there they can only re-hash old hits rather than create new ones - quite depressing really.

Wow that looks absolutely horrid. I was really waiting for the footloose song to pop into the trailer at some point. If your going to copy a movie might as well go all out.
I think Ranger hit the nail on the head. There are no writers left with any original ideas.
Didn't watch the first Footloose, sure wouldn't waste time on the second.

1. Its an MTV "Film" and they haven't had an original idea since they put music video's on tv.
2. Why would a writer think of an original idea when this turd will make a few hundred million dollars?
3. The target audience isn't the people who saw the first one, the formula for a successful movie is "Cute actors in little clothing, silly music and dancing". All things that 16-20 year olds like, because they are all professional dancers at that age.
4. If you were to go back and watch the orignal now, it probably wasn't that good anyways, Hollywood is a bunch of whores.
I addressed this in a thread while you were "on hiatus".
Its not just the debasement of cherished memories that these remakes often become that bothers me, its the lack of new ideas.
Like I said in the other thread, every year there are hundreds (if not thousands) of new stories written, either as novels or screenplays. And all Hollywood can do is go back and redo something that's already been done?

A World Without Guns <- Great Read!
It's comic book adaptations and remakes for the foreseeable future it seems![]()
I'm so sick of the comic book stuff. I saw Green Lantern and while it was an OK movie, it was nothing but two hours of action - I left with nothing more than that. There are so many outstanding books I have read that would make great movies, but that would mean taking a risk and Hollywierd isn't about taking risks. Just take a look at any "blockbuster" these days, they are hedging their bets by having not just one big name actor, but three or more (as in The Expendables).
I was watching Unforgiven a few weeks ago, what a great movie and if you look at how the westerns have done recently (Open Range, Unforgiven, True Grit - even though it was a remake, etc) I just don't understand why they have to re-hash old material.
If it doesn't have big stars and lots of gratuitous nudity, they are less interested.
