gun talk in everyday usage

so i was thinking about the many ways that firearms have influenced everyday speech of people outside of the firearms community .
here are a few examples
in drinking a small amount of booze its called a "shot or shooter "
a one hit wonder is often referred to as a" flash in the pan" (that would be musket talk for the youngsters )
the term" going off half cocked "(again musket talk )

please list any more terms that are in everyday usage (as in used by folks outside of the firearms community )
