To me, there is times when some human error was made, but the enforcement, and act of the law was in good intent, then there is an almost criminal like nature of some laws and their enforcement. I think this falls under the former, but thats my opinion, and unlike driving a car, its a RIGHT I have. Driving is a privvy, not a right, something people forget. That neighborhood has likely had problems with speeders, and stop sign runners, and perhaps thats why they were there. There was every good intention there to protect the public from excessive speeding, and even during rush hour, some streets you can beat the speedlimit on, even in almighty Denver. When I see people try to weasel out of situations, instead of taking responsibility for their actions, it reflects the kind of person they are. Judging by the comments that go with this thread, it tells me alot about some people, just like the thread a while back about someone losing a gun at a range. Being a gun owning american doesnt mean you have class, you have to show it sometimes. And by that, this is where I step out of this ring.
So I assume you drive the speed limit at all times, fully stop at all stop signs, and obey all laws and posted signs? If not do you find the nearest police officer and let him know what you did and ask for a ticket and for him to render judgement on you?

If not, then there isn't much of an argument on your side. You can say "yeah she broke the law and a camera caught her doing it", but what happens if they install a camera and computer on your car that is GPS equipped that reports every time you break one of the laws, then the state you register your vehicle with sends you a monthly bill for them all? You would probably go bankrupt.

There is a big difference between some BS automatic system designed for revenue, and a police force that is there to use discretion and write tickets when they feel necessary, what they are paid to do and what their job title is.

If you don't agree with that, then I hope I am the one selling the GPS units required on all cars and can work in a 5% personal profit from all the revenue.
All I have in this world is my balls and my word and I don't break em for no one.

I was just going to say this. IIRC didn't some guy in LA do that years ago and the story spread like wildfire on the interwebz?

It is a very popular joke that has spread around the radio and internet.

The day after I said that I had never seen a photo radar van in a school zone, I saw one.

Potentially an extra $59. They can't issue a bench warrant, boot your car, revoke your license...they can't even report the ticket to the state. Furthermore, as far as I can tell, Denver is not following state law regarding the use of automatic radar cameras so I can't imagine they will want to bring anyone to court and have that come to light...

I got one of those tickets last year. It said that the fine would double after 30 days and collection costs would be added. Right Of Way Enforcement can boot you over this. They don't even know why they are booting or towing vehicles half the time -- they drive very slowly down every street, scanning EVERY license plate with their laser thingy, and if it pings they stop and do whatever the computer tells them to do. If you've ignored several of these tickets, I'd be careful parking on public roads in Denver, especially Downtown and in Cap Hill. No "proof" for you, but that is just how Denver does things. Had my car towed over an "investigative hold" because some yuppie bitch from out of state said I scratched the paint on her car in a parking lot. No-one could tell me why my car was towed for nearly a week, and it cost me over $400 to get it out of impound.

Last year I had a Judge call me on my cell to ask me where I was -- didn't even identify herself as a Judge or clarify what the call was about. Asked me why I wasn't in court. I thought it was one of the attorneys at the firm I was working for until she said that she was issuing a bench warrant for my arrest and hung up. I drove home, googled her number, and found out who it was. Called the clerk and was told that I'd been subpoenaed to appear for a traffic violation. I never was served a subpoena. They said it was mailed to me, but I never got it. Turned out the ADA sent it as a stamped letter -- not registered, not certified, not even delivery confirmation -- and it went to my old address. My attorney said they do that all the time. So yeah, they do that here. It probably is illegal, but Denver has never cared about that.

Denver said they would do all that stuff to me over the parking ticket I didn't pay. I heard on here that they could make it so you couldn't buy a gun unless you paid, so I ponied up the over 2x the original amount. I asked if I could settle, and all that stuff, but they wouldn't do it. The first guy I talked to about it was a total fucking ass clown. I should have spoken to his manager. Fucking idiot.

They never did end up doing any of that stuff though.

I do not know, for certain, what Denver does to drivers who do ignore the traffic camera tickets, but given how they handle other minor offenses I doubt very much if they'll simply drop it.

I do know for a fact that if your vehicle is WRONGFULLY impounded they never waive or refund impound fees . . . and if you don't bail your car out of impound they sell it at auction. Denver is notorious nationwide for that. Notorious for the "Denver boot" as well.

If you want to risk ignoring a Denver photo ticket thinking nothing is gonna happen to you, go right ahead and tell us how that works out. I got mine a month after the alleged offense and had no recollection of driving in that area on that day, but it was my face and tag number in the photo so I just paid it. I think it was something like $80.
