I was speeding in boulder and got nailed by their mobile van. looking back I should have not paid. I don't live in boulder, not in the county or city. It would take too much effort on their part to come after me.

I would not pay. If anything you never received it. Unless you have to sign for the letter they don't know if you got it.
All I have in this world is my balls and my word and I don't break em for no one.

I read Colorado Revised Statutes 42-4-110.5 Part 2(a)(II) and I really can't decipher the language in the Statute. Does mailing it count as it being served?

The ticket says that if you don't pay it then a "Penalty Assessment Notice" will be personally served upon you with an additional fee of up to $59. I do see in the Statute it says they can't charge more than the actual usual costs of being served...

Secondly, in part (2)(d) it requires very specific requirements for posting a sign stating that they are clocking speed from one of these vans...I'd like to see Denver show proof that this sign was in place. I have seen these vans before and never seen a sign...

Should I press our luck and see if they actually serve her in 90 days out of my personal belief that traffic tickets should have to be given to you in person by a cop (<$99 dollars at risk) or should I just mail a check and be done with it ($40)?
I'll be the bad guy here. Did she in fact speed 10mph over? If so, she broke the law regardless, and instead of trying to pull the trick of using a technicallity, be the better person, accept the responsibility of committing the crime, and pay the fine, and move on. Easiest solution to avoid the problem, is to not speed in the first place. There are some cases where making the gov't do their part in prosecuting and proving their case is prudent, but this isnt one of them. If you murdered someone, and were arrested, would you owe up to what you did, or would you try and beat the charge and be an OJ?

Does having a ticket placed on your car count as being served? They tell you they can/will do all kinds of things if you don't pay parking tickets.

I am with you on this one, our local govt. has the hands in too many pockets as it is. Why should the citizens play fair? They sneak around on these damn motor cycles, vans and everthing else. If I ever get one I won't pay the fucker! besides that I see fawking cops all the time breaking the fawking law. Just because your in a patrol car doesn't mean you don't have to signal, or you get to do 10-15 mph over just cause you can. Hell the other day I had one come into my lane while trying to text or dial a phone. Fucker had the nutz to shoot me a dirty look for honking.

I wouldn't pay the damn thing either. I'm getting tired of how "1984"-like things are getting. If they want to give you a ticket, then they can have an officer clock you, pull you over, and ticket you. These revenue generation schemes piss me off; these various municipal governments are learning their budgeting and spending habits from the Feds and trying to fill the gaps with crap like this. Just another example of government in action.

I am truly sorry you feel this way. Your anger has you truly confused however, as I am a registered republican, that moved from a state that was 100% "red" in 2008. In being a conservative leaning individual, I am more interested in doing the right thing, then to get by with whatever I can try, as that is more of the liberal mentality. I applaud you in your opinion though, as a supporter of the US Constitution, I believe in your right of free speech. I am sorry though you believe I lack intelligence, and condemn me for speaking my opinion. Perhaps you doth protest too much? It is one thing to rant about liberals and how they have messed up the country, its another thing to actually live by the standards one claims the liberals have destroyed.

Hey thanks for sticking up for me sneakerd!

I'd also have to comment, I drive through the Photo Radar zones each morning and evening on the way home. Know where they are located? School Zones nearly 100% of the time. Speed limit is 20. She was probably doing 30. Pay the fine. Respect the children and their safety.
Sometimes people trip and fall down stairs.
Sometimes assholes push people down stairs.
That doesn't mean "stairs are bad" nor does it make someone who pushes someone down the stairs any less of an asshole.

I've never seen one in a school zone yet. Near one, but not in one.
