Kids being kids, Little Byte whacked a kid in the McDonalds playland in evergreen.
(Alxone will back me on this)
I pulled him out, corrected him, explaining why its wrong. I then made him apologize to the other kid and he didn't get to play anymore.

in a different time and place (like my house) we would have gotten a more ... umm, "Direct" correction.

“Direct Correction” was the way I learned. My mom and dad didn’t really care for the whole where or when though.

And I love the new avatar there Byte.

I liked the fact that they used a symbol of our national debt/dependency to convey a message of independence.

    This:

It was the parent being passed off to the kid. Just imagine what that little shits kids are going to be like. Nobody understands, I learned through some "direct" correction too and you can be assured my kids will learn this also.

I Agree, but there are people in this state that will turn away from an armed robbery in progress, YET they will call the PD if you whack junior on the butt for stepping too far out of line.

Has anyone else noticed that the children of parents who don't believe in spanking are usually the ones that need it the most?

Looks like you had a wonderful interaction with "turd child". I run into those on occassion when I take my wonderful 2 year-old son to the park, play place at the mall, etc. I would've reacted the same way you did and probably had to muffle my child's ears in order to give that POS mom a piece of my mind.

Several years ago when my oldest son (now 13) was about 4 years old, he ran from me at a local Mervyns. He hid in a circular coat rack and literally didn't say a word. I got absolutely shaking scared. I had the manager and other store employees looking for him while they locked down the store. I felt like a horrible dad, he let go of my hand, turned and ran - it was like he vanished into thin air. Finally, a store employee found him hiding in the coat rack. I IMMEDIATELY turned him over my knee in mid air and he got 2 solid whacks on the butt. I had this old lady staring at me like I was the evilest bastard on the planet. I was so pissed, I looked right in her eyes and said, "Say one word to me and I'll turn YOU over my knee too!" I grabbed my son and out the door we went. That is how I was raised and now my oldest son in an amazing young man who I am very proud to be the father of. He's not "mentally scarred" because of the spankings he received as a younger child, nor is he a troubled youth with difficulty getting along with other children.

When I got out of line as a child there were days my parents gave me more "direct" punishment and I will never forget some of those moments, but I turned out to be pretty squared away.

Crazy soccer moms. My boys do get spanked. HOWEVER I have found that it is rarely necessary once I have established the threat is credible (which happened years ago). Do they still need one now and again, yeah, but very rarely. That being said it seems far to many folks these days are one way or another, whats wrong with a little balance. No spanking= problems, Always spanking and or abuse= problems. Spank when necessary, and allways calmly and not out of anger, just to teach a lesson, and you'll find you have to do it less and less often. YMMV.
