Taking the plunge

Well, I'm seriously thinking about building my own. After looking ,researching and pricing AR's, I think building my own really might be the best way to go. I am fairly mechanically inclined, as far as cars go. I'm pretty confident I can do this. I am a little leery because it's a firearm, and not doing something correctly could blow up in my face...literally lol. My question is, is there a place I can go to get a complete list of parts/tools needed to do the job? And is there any sort of instructional video(s) I can watch? Also, any of your guys' input is very much appreciated!

The "build-your-own" thing can be a misnomer, as some people build their own by buying a complete upper and then a complete lower, buy a bunch of magpul furniture, then post their "build". Cheaper to buy a complete upper- say from Spikes, then think about the options you want on the lower- imho. I bought a complete upper with a LW barrel on GB- Spikes factory product- for under $500 delivered.

Yeah, I still haven't decided if I want to go with a complete upper and complete lower. Or basically do the entire thing from scratch, which seems a little crazy but could be fun. I don't have patience when it comes to waiting for parts, so whichever will get me one faster is more than likely the way i'll go. And don't worry, if I do complete uppers and lowers and post my pics...I won't post it as my "build" lol.

By the way- I would suggest that you look at the colored pictograph Spikes lowers. They have lots of cool ones, I've got the Jolly Roger one, they have Zombies and lots of other cool lowers.
