Default Ballistic tests. Various handgun slugs.

So the reason I started this is mainly because I want to know what my CARRY ammo will do and how it expands. Pretty important stuff if you ask me.

I carry 9mm and .40, usually .40 in the winter time when I have to be concerned with heavy layers of clothing. Anyway heres what I got.

Left to right: .38 win Ranger, 9mm Speer Gold Dot, .44 mag Win. Ranger, .40 Speer Gold Dot, .45 Golden Saber, .45 Win. Ranger "T" series

What was you expansion medium? Cloth covering? Test parameters? Enquiring minds want to know!

Water. I strictly do water testing for expansion testing due to variables in the expansion due to inconsistent slugs.

I use a water tank mostly. I have done gallon jugs before but you lose the slugs or they hit the ground and it deforms them. On one of the .40's yesterday (Black Talon I think) it actually hit the bottom of the tank flattening out one side.

Sometimes I am limited to ammo and only have one chance, I cant risk it by clogging the tip

The Ranger T is my personal favorite, the Speer Gold Dot is a pretty nice slug also.

I try to stay away from ammo that has the jacket torn off and fragments.

Im surprised how well the +P and +P+ held up

I would like to see a test with Hornady Critical Defense .45. I'll donate the ammo too. How many would you need?

I dont mind testing at all for you guys...if you could keep it with .40 or 9mm would be really cool, I dont have my .45 pistol right now. Times are tight and it was the one pistol I COULD live without.

If someone wants to send a pistol, cool. I could make it happen.

Im all about doing the testing. Send 2 of the same bullet, one to test, the other to use for the pics, I can either send them back to you, I would like to have some for my collection though
