I had a similar incident about 17 years ago in my old pickup. I missed a shift pulling out onto a road, and a guy was pissed beyond belief, passed me, and slammed on his brakes so we both went off the road. The guy jumped out of his truck quickly as I assessed the situation, and I noticed his hand held tightly behind his leg, and then noticed the reflection of the stainless slide. His whole purpose was to instigate and have cause to discharge his weapon. I put my truck in gear and slowly rolled away through the weeds with this ass hitting my truck and yelling. You never know what you are going to get on an altercation like this; just leave! Getting out of your car to confront another person on a road rage incident is pretty stupid. It doesn't matter if we think this guy should have or should not have shown his firearm. What matters is that there are a whole lot of people out there who won't do the right thing. Conversely, if the guy approaching this car also had a weapon, then this guy in the car would have taken fire while manipulating his firearm. The whole road rage thing is pretty idiotic; I mean what the hell is wrong with people!

I had some psycho from Monument try to pick a fight with us at stoplight cause he couldn't wait behind my wife's car for 2 seconds at the last stoplight for her to shift into 1st gear.

Needless to say he was getting out of his car with gun in hand, wife by then already had her LCP out of the purse and my carry HK already trained on the retard through the window.

The last time I had to point a weapon at someone in self defence was in Iraq, so you can imagine I wasn't too happy about it. He got back into his car and drove off but god damn people are stupid.

All this bruhaha over one side of a playground spat. I'm sure the police got a fair and accurate statement from the poor victim.

Feel free to get sucked in...you already made seven points.

    OK, I'll play

what if the guy cut the other guy off and block him in at a traffic light, got out and went back to his car with a weapon. What if to him it appeared the guy pulled his weapon and racked the slide when in fact he pulled it, fired and had a bad primer strike/misfire. he does a tap and rack and the aggressor is now fleeing so he opts not to shoot the guy in retreat. Having no cellphone he waits to call the PD when he gets home

my point is, we can armchair this to death... none of us was there (I Hope) so none of really knows

What ever happened to the "good old days" where two guys could just beat the hell out of each other without one of them pulling a weapon?

I don't know man, I carry when I'm driving, and if some angry stranger came charging up to my car window my piece would certainly be in my lap and ready. I wouldn't poke it in his face or even flash it, but I'd damn sure be ready to. Shit like this is why it's legal in CO to carry a loaded handgun in your vehicle without a permit.

Driving away is certainly the right response, but we all know that's not always possible. An angry ape at your window could do anything, or be carrying anything, so IMO you'd damned well better be ready to respond. If you see a hammer, tire iron or whatever coming at your door window, it's time to react, not wait until after he's smashed the window and has you by the throat.

JMHO of course. I don't go around trying to irritate anybody, but shit happens. If I don't see somebody and accidently get in his way briefly, he sure doesn't have any right to try to harm me for doing so. But I DO have the right to protect myself from some angry macho asshole who wants to beat me up or cause me harm.

I didn't see anything in the article that said who did what, or what the incident was even about. If the guy with the gun was a non-aggressor and was just preparing to defend himself against a raging lunatic, then I'm on his side.

That is what I was going to say I would have my gun ready if I could not drive off, first off if my family would have been in the car the windows would have been rolled up with the doors locked and gun ready. That is if I could not just simply drive off, I sure would not have racked the slide and showed my gun unless I was going to use it.

    This^^

You don't use a gun to intimidate, you use it to defend yourself and your loved ones.
