Here is a report on oaths and ethics of police officers by Richard DeShon

    http://www.emich.edu/cerns/downloads...&%20ETHICS.pdf

Some things in the report that worry me . . .

80% claimed they have read the constitution . . . yet only 35% said they knew of a law that is unconstitutional

72% said they would enforce a law that was obviously in conflict with the american constitution

88% said they would enforce an unconstitutional law if ordered by a supervisor

65% trust the legislature to pass constitutional laws . . . but 78% think the legislature would pass a law to serve his/her own special interest in conflict with the american constitution

do you have any opinion of or apology for the link that I did post? or did you ignore it outright because I posted it I'm "anti cop"

you see, I get where you're coming from. believe me, I've tried to show that I don't hate cops, but it doesn't work.

once pro cop folks (or anyone who has they're mind REALLY made up about something... like say, oh.. child molesters and the death penalty) have made up their mind about you there is no way to undo it.

and posting pro police stories pisses them off even more, because they feel like instead of showing gratitude or thanks I'm simply mocking them.

the fact that you're throwing a tantrum instead of engaging in dialog shows the mindset you have.

so it's a good thing you ejected, because you never had your pilot's license to start with.
First...You are not a dick. I never considered you a dick and don't consider you one now.

As for the article posted I personally try not to trust 100% of what the news says. I have had first hand dealings with the media and they have never once told the story the way it happened. I read the story and took it for what it was. One side of the event. Do I think it was right to go in and take money from the store? Nope. There are better ways to conduct yourself.

Posting stories pro police would not lead me to believe you are mocking police. Some might feel that way, but I wouldn't.

Throwing a tantrum? Says who? I am making an observation about your posts and voicing what I notice. That is all. I am not mad at you, or anyone on this board. As I said in the beginning I have no issues with you and I would have no problem buying you a beer, I have just noticed a large portion of your posts are anti-cop.

To answer some questions, the "Stormwater" fee metioned was $$$ collected to maintain the water (runoff) drains throughout Colo Spgs. There was a lot of controversy about how it was collected, but I don't think there was ever doubt that it was needed. It's my understanding Colo Spgs is the only major city in CO to not have stormwater included in utility bills, propert taxes and what not. I don't remember how much money mine was, but $60 a qtr rings a bell.

This is a simple case of the city blowing off the due process of law required. They should file a lawsuit against an individual or a business in order to collect legal taxes & fees.

That's what city/county attorneys are for.

    Default Honest Government?

City making it a part of the tax maybe? This reminds me of those 1-900 telephone billing scams of the 1980's. Threatening people with guns and badges is sure way for a sheriff to not be re-elected and judges to be removed from the bench. City Council getting alot of flak from its' constituents will cause them to rethink their collection process. It sounds unconstitutional to me and maybe a Federal Court should intervene. Imagine receiving a Federal bill for a "Citizen Fee"....if you did not pay, the FBI would come with guns and badges and empty your wallet. This is .gov thuggery at its finest...

    no worries man.

    Sheriff Maketa halted the collections

seems to me like if they were acting properly under the law, a halt would not have been necessary.

I agree that they could have gone about it in a different way. Absolutely nothing about this seems legal. I think the city is now going to be on the hook for the money taken plus a few million.
