I've heard good things about that place, and if your 1/2 Italian wife likes it it can't be bad. Two negative things came up in various reviews though... one being that the red sauce and salad dressing are kind of bland and seem to be from a can/bottle instead of made from scratch, and the second was that the place is kind of run down. What's your take on that, how was it when you were there?

From reading reviews and such, these two places seem to be at the top of the list and they're both close enough...
    Patsy's Inn
    Gaetano's
Anybody been to either of these? They both have very high approval ratings on Urban Spoon and great reviews on different sites.

Of course I'm open to other suggestions as well.

    Thanks guys!

F all those places. Go on an adventure and a lightweight road trip. Go to Nona's- 6603 Leetsdale. The best goddamn Italian food west of Chicago.
    You'll never be the same.

I was gonna recommend gaetanos, then there is pagliachis just down the street. That's authentic and almost mafia like lol. Then there is one on 42nd and wads but I can't remember the name.

Plus one for Patsy's. Casual environment, good food and reasonably priced. Oh and full bar. Kind of tucked into a neighborhood and sorta lends that ma and pa feeling.

Amici's is at 42nd and Wads- that's a good place too- but at their old location they did not take credit cards, so if you go there prepare for that possibility.

If you make it over to Aurora ever ( I realize that's not I70 and Kipling) check out Armando's. Really good, great prices. Very comparable alfredo sauce to what I ate Italy.

As the resident Italian on this board I feel I must chip in:
Parisi, 4401 Tennyson, would be a very good restaurant even in Italy, contrarily to all those Americanaized pseudo-Italian restaurant mentioned so far.
You may like them, but it ain't real Italian food.
Parisi, and more specifically the downstairs restaurant called "Firenze a tavola" are the only spot, togheter with "Il Fornaio", where I will eat Italian.
    Trust me, I'm Italian!
