Default NYPD Has Capability To "Take Down" Airplane

NYPD Chief: Police Could Take Down Plane if Needed
Kelly didn't divulge details but said "obviously this would be in a very extreme situation."
Now city leadership is capable of making a decision to shoot down (or otherwise bring down) an airliner. If you were unhappy about police powers before, you should be on the verge of a meltdown now.

Rumor has it that the projectile is shaped like a toilet plunger; probably won't miss their mark.

Can they control where the "take down" airplane debris lands?

"Other measures include sending NYPD officers abroad" So New York City has international and interstate jurisdiction now?

All this from the department that required 12 pound trigger pulls on their Glocks because they refused to train their personnel properly. Awesome.

It seemed like a lot of the stuff they did were over their heads. I am all for an anti terrorism team but in my opinion thats the US armed Forces, not NYPD.

It raises massive red flags.. holy shit. A CIVILIAN police force sending officers abroad, and claiming to be able to 'take down' a plane. What'd they do.. buy some of the Russian AA that went missing in Libya?

God let's hope it never comes to them deciding to use it.

Maybe their actual ability to take down a plane is a direct phone line to a nearby USAF Fighter Squadron that is always on standby

I'm all for an anti-terror initiative with LE, but let's not overstep our bounds shall we?
