Anyone else noticing that prices, even for pre-owned weapons, at the Tanner are getting a little silly? You can still find some good deals (and no, I don't believe in beating people down on a fair price), but I'm seeing prices on used weapons that are so close to the new Cabela's/Bass Pro/Whatever prices that it hardly makes sense to pick up the pre-owned.

Please tell me this isn't a trend due to the current administration's potential (though not realized) policies!

Over the last few years prices have risen rapidly.

I think part of the answer is Gunbroker and the like wed sites. Prices are very visible and gun owners keep thinking they should get collector grade prices for average guns.

The gun show tend to have more dealers in them since the 2000 law that required background checks at the shows. I wouldn't try to buy a used car from a dealer, they put in too much markup. I buy used cars from individuals. The dealers are in the business of making money.
Individuals are thinking if they can ask that kind of money, why can't I?

With the recent ammo crisis, economic crisis people are thinking in much bigger dollar amounts than a year or two ago. "...if I can't sell this gun for $x I will just keep it. It is a better hedge against inflation and more security than bank interest." And you know they are right.

I hear less about perceived policy threats from the present administration than earlier Democratic administrations.

Not only do the prices seem to be rising at the show but there is also more and more junk each time I go.

Id agree about gunbroker a bit. I see people finding the prices on there and go for it. What they fail to miss, is the zero bids, which means there are nuts TRYING to get that price, but no one is buying it for that price. 70 dollar pistols (according to blue book) listed for 250, mosin 91/30 for over 400 (not a finn, just a regular ol big 5 special).

you clearly did not stop by my table or the r&s table , r&s has great deals on new guns and i was pretty much giving away sks's and a few 22's . maybe you should try to seek out some forum members next time and get yourself some good deals or at least get turned in the right direction for the item your looking for .hope it works out better for you next time

Sellers sometimes set their prices higher because they expect to haggle the price down. Other sellers are just smokin' crack.

How about Ammo at the show? I would like to buy local if possible but nobody can seem to even get close.. I just got 500rd of 62gr 223 from luckygunner for $123 shipped.. Thats cheap.. Any deals like this at the tanner.?

Is it brass or steel? New or reloaded? What sort of primers?

I paid $160 OTD for 500 rounds of new, bulk brass-cased 55g ball ammo at a Sertoma show a while back. Even at $.32/round, it's far cheaper than any retail place I've seen.

If luckygunner's stuff is the same, I could be encouraged to switch next time I need some.

I see it as a $7 entertainment factor, browsing, shopping, seeing what's new and handling different firearms. I might actually get lucky and find a deal too on something that offsets the entrance fee. I'd probably blow $7 on a bad hamburger somewhere once a month anyway.

I saved two or three dollars off a retail price of a couple items I purchased at the last show, so I came out even and enjoyed meeting some other members from here.
