    Default Moose sighting in Nederland

Took the girls up the mountain for some nature outside of Nederland. We were on our way to the Peak to Peak Highway when my wife spotted a mama Moose with her calf in open water. It was the first time I've seen a Moose in the wild.

    Great pictures, thanks for sharing.

A couple years ago, I went up left hand canyon through Jonestown to the highway that will take you back down to Nederland and took pics of a huge bull trotting across a meadow. A local was their watching with me, she said she has lived in that area for 20+ years and has never seen a moose on this side of RMNP.

It must have been rare because as we were watching them a 2012 Audi pulled up with a woman on a Satellite Phone telling all her friends. We figured that in a few minutes the place would be crawling with lookyloos so we continued our journey.

Seen a couple in the wild me own self. Hopefully we'll see more and more of them, if the poachers don't kill 'em all off first.

The are awesome creatures. Great pics, thanks.

The moose have been migrating farther and farther down. There are pics of them by the Pinecliffe post office a few years ago. I was hoping to see one (or more) yesterday when I was driving around town (Ned) No such luck. Glad someone saw them.

My wife is an avid moose hunter, albeit with a camera

Several times each year we trek back and forth between Long Draw Reservoir and the west side of RMNP. We have lots of pics of moose, and some are from as close as 50 feet. Moose fear nothing that I am aware of, and for such a big animal they have some serious invisibility skills. I tell friends that if a moose doesn't want to be seen, you won't see them.

Thanks for sharing the pictures and the sighting. As the price of gas goes up, I am hoping the moose move closer to this side of the Front Range

Lots of them up near the top of the Poudre Canyon, we saw at least a dozen one evening along Long Draw Reservoir road.
