    Default Bullets and TSA

Something bad happened today to my mother in law.

Last week i went to the shooting range and picked up a bullet i found laying on the ground. When i got home i put it on my work bench and it just sat there. My mother in law has been staying in our second bedroom which is a guest room/ my work room where i clean my guns and build my model air planes. Some time during the week the bullet fell over and rolled into her purse. When she went to the airport the TSA found it when she went through security. She got on the plane, but what is going to be the after math of this? Will the AFT/TSA/FBI be knocking on my door this week?

    Thanks
I accept that Iam a dumbass

Nothing will happen except you getting an earful from your Mother In Law.

Nothing. I walked through LAX security with a half dozen rounds of live ammunition in my carry on bag.

I did that both through DIA and on the way back from Detroit's Warren Int Airport. That place is a joke as far as an airport is concerned.

    Red face I can relate!

    True Story:

Went from DIA to New Jersey and then on to Amsterdam and connected to Zurich... and then, 3 Weeks Later... came back through Zurich to Amsterdam and hit New Jersey and then... suddenly... the fecal material came into contact with the air movement device!!! I used to... repeat: used to... employ one of my Carry On Bags as a Range Bag and I had inadvertantly left a Speed Loader, with 6 Remington .357 Magnum Golden Sabers, in it!!! Not only was the TSA a bit "put out" but, I soon discovered, the New Jersy Gestapo feel particularly strongly that ONLY LAW ENFORCEMENT should be allowed to possess Hollow Point Ammo. Got Patted Down (no strip search... phew!!), Got Cuffed (I'm a big boy... it took two pairs of cuffs), Got Arrested (had to endure about two hours of various uniformed goons shouting, "Wheyas da' gun, azzhole?" [New Jersey, remember?] in my face... not fun), Got Booked, Spent 4-Hours in a Holding Cell, Released, Spent the Night at one of the Luxurious & Cost Effective Airport Hotels (missed my flight... big surprise, huh?), Spent MONEY for a GOOD Attorney, Flew back to New Jersey, Rented a Car, Drove to Trenton, Explained my Foolishness to the Judge, Plead Guilty to the Reduced Charge of "Littering" (Yep... no lie... Littering), Gave 'em 4 Benjamins and got the hell out of Dodge before they changed their narrow minds!!!

Expensive little brain cramp, that was...

In short, I don't think that you or your mother in law will hear a peep about it from any Governmental-types ever again.

When I was in the army...

One time I was going on midtour leave from Iraq, flying to Germany for leave so I got to board a commercial flight in Kuwait International. Well I had an assault pack with me, and could of sworn I checked every pocket for prohibited stuff.

Went through the 1st scanner, it goes off. Starts searching my bag to find 2 30rd mags full of ammo tucked behind the plastic hard pierce on the back part so I never felt the mags there and forgot I had put them there months ago with other ammo in the pack while we did missions.

Long story short, security didn't give a shit lol. Guy laughed, I was embarassed until he tossed the mags into a box that had probally 100+ mags in them.

Good thing they caught it though (went through FIVE checkpoints at that place until I got on the plane lol) cause if I had been caught in Europe with that kind of stuff it would of been hell to pay.

There is federal law on the books that exempts travelers from dealing with another state's gun laws as long as they don't stop for anything other than gas or food. Since you never left the airport property, you would have been covered by it.
