    Default FTF sale question

What is the law in CO as far as doing a Face To Face sale of a handgun?

Do you have to meet with an FFL and do a 4473/background check?

nothing is required. you could do a casual transaction bill of sale and get their DL. other then that cash is the only way to go

Both buyer and seller must be Colorado residents, other than that what Jim said.

There is NO law requiring ANY paperwork.
You can get ID, and a bill of sale, to cover your backside, if you want.

No you only have to be 18 to own a handgun. A FFL dealer can not sell a handgun to anybody under 21 a private party can.

I don't mind being wrong, but where can we find the regs on this one? Personally I wouldn't sell a handgun to anyone under 21, but dat's just me.

Intra-state private sales are governed by state law.

FFL's are governed by state and federal law.

I don't have the CO statuates in hand but I seem to recall that it was 18 for handguns. But do not go off of my recall, find out from the source.

I doubt anyone would enforce this but legally you need to have no more than 2 people present to be considered a private transaction. Otherwise it is considered by law a trade show and other rules apply including CBI checks, etc.

This was brough up several times during a CCW class that I took and although we all laughed about it they were dead serious. It still sounds crazy to me, but it's something to think about.
