    Default Old farm implements

Went to the wife's grandmother's house today and thought I would take a couple of pictures of some of the old farm equipment. I was guessing the second one was some sort of popcorn popper of some sort. Turns out it had something to do with seeds.

Sorry about the picture quality. I took these with my phone.

Nice, Brings back memories of the Threshing-Bee up in North Dakota when I was younger. I think they still do it every summer up in Divide county.

Second picture looks to me like a "corn planter". Last one might be a cultivator?

First one is a precursor to the combine IIRC.
Second one is a seed drill.
Jerry your correct-3rd is a cultivator I believe.

My moms Aunt that lived on a farm in western Nebraska had an old steam tractor that they restored and would putt it around a couple times a year and they had old implements all over. Farm had been in the family for 6 generations.
Buckin bales in the summer was fun.

The first one is a Threshing machine used to seperate the grain from the wheat stocks. You pitchforck the cut wheat into the hopper and it would seperate the grain out. It was run with a belt drive stationary engine. The modern combine cuts the wheat and seperates the grain.

I've got pictures of some other things too. A John Deere "No. 4" thing that is some kind of reciprocating cutter or mower. A couple of hay rakes. And another thing or two that I don't know what they are.

Appears I didn't get a shot of the John Deere thing in it's entirety.

#1 appears to be a home built disc harrow from scrounged parts.
    # 2 is a hay rake I believe.
