    Default Colorado Clays Expanding???

Just saw that colorado clays is trying to expand in to rifle and pistol shooting as well but the people around it are concerned. I guess the Adams county will be decideing whether to approve the expansion in the next few weeks. The video is on 9news front page right now.

Having never been there (it's on my list) I'm excited by the sound of a place that offers a "one stop shop" so I can shoot all my toys at once.

That said even I have to question allowing people to BYOB to enjoy "once you're done shooting on the patio"?

Kinda just a cardinal rule for me, guns and alcohol, not good bed fellow, but I'm not here to judge.

I wish them luck, don't know how long they have been there hope they are grandfathered in to C.R.S. 25-12-109 (pre 1985)If not they will get the place just like they like it and the city/county/state/private Citizen will swoop in and shut it down for the noise.

This is happening in Basalt at the state owned range there. neighbors are gripping about the noise and the state is limiting use, soon the range will be state only closed to the public. IMO

WHAC is pretty close by and I will leave it to Cysoto to extol the virtues of WHAC. I haven't been to Colorado Clays, although I have driven by and heard the sweet sound of shotguns.

The odd thing about this whole corner east of Brighton is only months ago Adams County had a hearing about a county owned public range out east on 120th from Tower Road, which was supposed to be adjacent to the regional LE range/training facility. Other than some initial flak from the FAA regarding low flying aircraft at DIA, the majority of attendees were very supportive. I don't know if the public range proposal is now dead or just slogging through the bureaucracy. It does sound like the LE range is dead now that Thornton pulled out of the project.

I don't golf. I don't have anything against golf or golfers. What I don't get is how many public courses exist around the country and make money for the contract vendors who run them, however the number of public ranges is dwindling. Is this purely an insurance liability issue? Is Cherry Creek the only public range making a profit for the vendor and municipality that built that range? I just can't believe that public ranges in the metro area could not be built, run safely and profitably for all those concerned. Till the day they are available, the club memberships seem like the best alternative.

If Colorado Clays expands, I will seriously consider joining.

I hope they expand. I would definitely look into joining then. they are close to me and the WHAC range is out there, but I haven't been there yet. for clays I drive just a little further down the street and shoot at my buddies place for free. If they expand, that might change!

Now I have spoke to the WHAC membership guy and there is over a year's wait to join, do they admit general public to use the range? CC is a very cool place and I heard but haven't drove by that Box Elder closed, can anyone confirm?
