A .308 does to a coon what a .50BMG does to a human.
Have fun.
Maybe someone on here has some traps you can borrow? I don't have any and I know they are a bit expensive, so borrowing or give the guy a case of beer or some ammo or the joy of shooting them when you release them!
trapping and removing or killing is the only way you are really going to get rid of them.

I've seen a coon vs a GSD.. it was backed into a garage.. the dog went to the vet and got 48 stiches.. the 'coon got shot w/ a .410..
Don't mess with the buggers, don't risk a dog unless you plan to shoot them.. DCON or a .22 w/ a can.. I'm sure someone has one you can conveniently have over..![]()
I'm glad I live in an area where nobody really cares if you shoot a .22 and the majority of the neighbors are gunowners. I had to take out a family of coons that were nesting in my workshop (the unfinished part of our house). One 20 lb mother and 3 juveniles. I guess it helped that the shots were indoors.
If you have no dogs or cats to get caught in them, snares are quiet and deadly. You can make your own (google them) or buy them...pretty cheap.
I use a live trap and haul them to the mountains where they get a chance to run.
Also, some municipalities have live traps to loan out, maybe the DOW does as well?
Have your mom call the local animal control, they should lend you traps for them and then come out and get them when they get caught. This is what they did in Junction anyway.

You can rent traps at alot of the rental companies.
