    Read this book.
Modern liberalism is based on the idea that reality is obligated to conform to one's beliefs because; "I have the right to believe whatever I want".

What are they protesting? Life, and how it isn't fair.

They're bitching at the gov't for getting too involved on Wall St., and then turning around and asking for the same handouts and special treatment they're speaking up against.

    Oh ok so SSDD.

Here's a nice tidbit from Facebook:
Me: "Sorry, but these "99%ers" have no idea what they're talking about. The ONLY thing that we, as American citizens, are entitled to is OPPORTUNITY. What you do with that opportunity... whether you succeed or fail... is up to you. If you fail, go nowhere with your life, live in debt and have no way out of it, whatever, the only person to blame is yourself. That's the beauty of America, and if you don't like it you can go live somewhere else."

Him:If you read the Constitution of the U.S., or any other book about human rights, freedom, etc., you'd know that the people of America and of the world are ALL entitled to MUCH MUCH MORE than simple opportunity. The 99%ers are doing exactly what the people who wrote the constitution did - they are boldly announcing a WAR against tyranny and oppression... The reason that what these people are doing seems so radical is because great minds and spirits have always suffered ridicule at the hands of the majority. every great scientist/visionary, etc. in history who ever made the world a better place was at first laughed at and bullied by those too short-sighted to see a better tomorrow. and with an iron-will, these protestors, just like the freedom fighters and visionaries before them WILL succeed. The kings never give freedom to the people. THE PEOPLE MUST TAKE IT FROM THEM. these protestors are the hope for a better tomorrow in which humanity is united with a common goal. Equality and Solidarity across the land, without Fascists and crooks and criminals making the world a terrible place!

Me: I took an oath to protect and defend the Constitution of the United States, you can be damn sure that I know what's in it. You're entitled to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness... the pursuit of happiness, not happiness itself. Not success, only the opportunity to succeed. You aren't entitled to other people's money, "debt forgiveness" on student loans and and credit cards, and all that other crap these protesters want. And no, the people of the world aren't entitled to what we have. The Constitution protects (note: protects, not grants) the rights and freedoms of American citizens... not Mexicans, Canadians, French, Africans, or anybody else. If they want to get in on it, they can become an American citizen and pay taxes just like everybody else. People like you that think we should just hand things out to anybody and everybody are what's leading to the demise of our Republic.
Its pretty funny to watch this crap though... you're bitching at the gov't for getting too involved on Wall St., and then turning around and asking for the same handouts and special treatment you're speaking up against.
And one more thing... we do have equality across the land (in theory, through not really with the NAACP, Affirmative Action, and all that crap). However, equal rights does NOT mean equal results.
Excellent! Terrific points all around. You ROCK mcantar18c.

A lot of what the individuals out there are asking for is pie in the sky crazy talk, namely debt forgiveness.

However, there are things that are very wrong with the country. The bailouts and TARP stuff, that no one has been prosecuted, and that these institutions are larger now than they were before ... is unacceptable.

There is a wide difference between being against corporate greed and capitalism. You can be capitalist without resorting to lobbying for tax loop holes and expecting handouts when you've dug yourself into a hole. The fact that they were bailed out isn't capitalism.

So far Matt Taibbi has had the best list of things they should be clamoring for: http://motherjones.com/kevin-drum/20...bis-advice-ows

The interesting thing about #OWS is how fractured and incoherent it is. It remains to be seen if the find a platform that more people can get behind. I really believe there are fundamental problems, and solutions that will yet be proposed, that people of all positions on the political spectrum will agree on -- and the entrenched politicans will oppose.

I'd love to see the effort come to that point, but I fear it'll remain in the "Give us money too!" vein, which is untenable.

Had a word for those kind of hippies...Drain-bow kids. They sleep on your couch, drink your beer, and hit on your girl.
