Best new pricing I could find online was $1100-$1200 for the pair new, plus shipping and FFL, so add another $100 or so.

I have seen a Tristar, not sure what model. It was pretty dang basic looking, but not bad. I didn't get to feel or hold it to get a feel for anything else.

I have held and played with that exact mossberg. I'm not a huge fan of double barrel guns as value guns, but I think it fit that bill pretty well. The finish was significantly better than the Tristar, but not super high end. It had good balance and swung well. The break-close action was a bit 'clunky', it shut a bit loudly and wasn't super tight until it fully locked up. But that is comparing to Citoris and Berettas that are 4x-5x the price range, who have great tight fit in actions and a nice soft close.

Depending on how much damage, I'd say a decent deal for the guns if you are doing FTF and don't have FFL/shipping to pay. Personally, I like pump shotguns for that price range, and prefer my double-barrels a bit higher end, but that is just me and I'm probably a bit biased. I just haven't found a double barrel value priced gun that I love, maybe someday. I'm sure there are people who can and do shoot those guns better than I can shoot anything out there.

Seems a little high for used Turkish shotguns. If you have $840 to spend on the two of those, I would highly recommend looking for a used Browning or Beretta instead. You'll be much happier in the long run.

Not a bad suggestion. Though didn't Mossberg open up a US plant for shotguns? Maybe that was Weatherby, in leiu of their Japan plant for rifles.

If you do want to go this route, you can look at the Beretta s686 Essential, lacking all the frills and flashy finish of the expensive Berettas, but Beretta quality at a better cost.

Not as far as I know. To the best of my knowledge the "Silver Reserve" over/unders are all made in Turkey.

I could be wrong though. It's happened before.

I agree with the other post, I have a browning citori and love it, plus the resale on them is great. At one point had a silver pigeon beret as well and should never have sold it.

    This

the turkish imports you mentioned, C.R.A.P.

You'll get them (cuz they are cheap), they might work for a while, but they'll break by which point the importer will be gone, no parts, they aren't worth fixing, barrel's won't be regulated, whatever.

and you'll buy a Beretta or a Browning anyway.

why not save your cash and just start there?
